John Rogers is a fully qualified silversmith having served his five year apprenticeship and obtained the Freedom of the Goldsmiths’. He has attained several awards with the Goldsmiths’ Silversmiths’ and Jewellers’ Art Council and 1st prize silver medal City & Guilds of London Institute. He subsequently developed his skills within the workshops of Stuart Devlin before starting his own silversmithing business in 1972, both undertaking commissions and restoring antique silver. His experience has given him a broad insight into the many aspects of this ancient craft. This, he has combined with teaching silversmithing since the 1980’s both with Adult Education ad, more recently with Chelmsford College. Susan Rogers has dealt in antique silver for thirty years. Her expertise has been put to use cataloguing and valuing collections for the military, church and museums. With this experience she has a good knowledge of restoration and repair. Subsequently, she has worked at the bench both designing and making small silver and jewellery. She now oversees the casting in the workshop.
